Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test
My Learning Oasis - Last Updated on 16th March, 2021 (Tuesday)

As outlined on the OSSD page of this website, one of the requirements for OSSD is the successful completion of the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT). If a student is not hoping to obtain the OSSD, that student is exempted from the OSSOT. Students who have been eligible to write this test at least twice, and who have failed at least once, are eligible to enroll in the grade 12 literacy course (OSSLC). This is an open course and if passed, will count instead of the literacy test (OSSLT).
The OSSLT is scheduled and administered by the Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) once each year. This is typically at the end of March.

Students usually take the OSSLT in Grade 10, unless the principal grants a deferral. If a student is not successful in the OSSLT, the test can be repeated.

My Learning Oasis will make the necessary arrangements with the necessary personnel to administer it as long as that student is actively enrolled at My Learning Oasis. Once enrolled for the test, more information will be forth-coming on location, timing etc. The test is supervised by an official assigned by EQAO.

The fee for writing the test at a My Learning Oasis site is $150. The fee for writing the test at a different location may be as high as $450. These fees may change without notice so please confirm before registering for it.
